Pigmentation is the darkened patches or spots on the skin. This can affect patches of your skin or your entire body. 
Melanin pigment is present in our skins. The skin cells create melanin to protect from damage that UV light causes. When the skin create too much melanin in a specific area, causing the skin to darken. 

It is usually harmless but can sometimes be caused by an underlying medical condition. Certain medications can also cause your skin to darken or can be more use of a cosmetic issue for most people.
There are various market creams and lotions present to remove pigmentation but very few of them are actually effective, even they are expensive and may contain some chemicals, that can harm your skin in the long run. It is best to stick to home remedies, which can provide effective results, with no side effects.


Pigmentation treatment at home:


There are various ways that you can remove pigmentation at home. Some research suggests some natural main ingredients work on skin pigmentation.

1. Coffee
Coffee has anti inflammatory and anti oxidant properties . It is a skin whitening agent . Coffee helps in the lightening and tightening of the skin. It helps to reduce pigmentation and is often used to brighten skin or reduce the tan . Coffee is used as a part of beauty treatments. 
How to use coffee?
        Add 2 tbsp coffee with 2 tbsp coconut oil . Now apply it on skin or other pigmented areas and rub for 2-3 min . Leave the coffee mask for 30 min and wash with tap water . 

You can apply this coffee mask once/ twice a week .


2. Honey
       Everyone's kitchen has honey. Honey has mild lightening properties and helps in skin whitening. Also honey has antioxidant, antiseptic and antibacterial properties which help for fighting acne. It can open your pores and remove blackheads while keeping your skin hydrated all day long. 
How to use honey?
     Take 1tbsp honey with 1tbsp sugar . Apply it on your pigmented areas , rub the area and leave it for 15 min. Now wash with clean water. You can apply this paste in areas which is not pigmented
Use this mask thrice a week


3. Lemon
Lemon juice has natural bleaching abilities. It has high concentration of vitamin C which is powerful antioxidant. The vitamin C in lemon juice lightens skin by reducing melanin. You can use lemon juice to lighten your skin,also can be used to treat acne damage, dark spots, freckles.
How to use lemon?
       Add juice of half portion lemon with 3tbsp of honey. Massage it on your skin and pigmentated area , leave it for 15 min and wash with clear water. 

You can use this mask twice a week.


4 Milk 
There is  a popular belief in some communities that raw milk can make your skin lighter. The lactic acid present in milk not only removes dead skin cells, but also lightens and brightens the skin by removing the layer of damaged skin. It is even use to make skin healthy and glowing
How to use milk?
       Take 3tbsp milk with 1tbsp honey and make a mask , massage gently in your skins and uneven dark tone areas , leave for 10 min. Now remove the mask with clean water.


You can apply this mask twice/thrice a week.


5. Gram flour
We all consume gram flour but did you know it can be used as facial mask. Gram flour acts to exfoliate the skin, removing dead skin cells which will brighten the skin tone. 
How to use gram flour?
       Add 3tbsp gram flour with half cup of milk and a pinch of turmeric powder . Apply on your face , leave it for 15-30 min and wash with clear water.

You can apply this paste thrice a week.


6. Oats and aloe vera
It is found that oats have skin lightening properties. If you have any dark spots or splotches of skin discoloration, oats can lighten them because they have amino acids which are known to have a lightening effect on skin. Oat also has vitamin E, which also serves to lighten skin discoloration. 
Again Aloe Vera contains a popular and natural depigmentation compound known as Aloin. This compound effectively lightens skin. It also remove  dead skin cells .
How to use them?
     Take half cup of milk, add 3-4 tbsp oats and 2 tbsp aloe gel with 2/3 drops of glycerine and 5-6 drops of coconut oil. Apply it on skin and pigmentated areas, massage it and leave for 15-20 min . Now wash with clean and tap water. You can store this mask upto 5 days.
You can use it daily and twice a day.
